Aditya Narula: Self Portrait

Born in Kolkata in 1980, Aditya Narula went on to study Architecture at the School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi. Over the course of his life since,  the Artist has travelled across India and dabbled in a variety of vocations ranging from Horticulture, Poultry, Art direction for Films, exhibition Design & Street Art.

One constant remained however; his fascination with the physiognomy of, and engagement with, people he encountered throughout his journey. Unsatisfied with his early experiments with abstraction as limiting, he turned to Portraiture as a much more comprehensive medium for expressing the layered complexities he encountered, in their entirety.

Relying on instinct and careful observation, the artist has created an entire portfolio of works, piece by piece over the past decade. While comfortable with a variety of mediums the Artist, enamoured by its flexibility, works primarily with oil and  draws influences from twentieth century masters of realism and naturalism such as John Singer Sargent, Ilya repin, Nicolai Fechin, and Anders Zorn

He currently resides and works out of New Delhi
